I am exited to have been selected to participate as a juried artist in the Mountain Home, Baxter County Arkansas, Art Odyssey on May 20 – 21, 2011.

Sponsors Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce, Don W. Reynolds Library, Baxter Bulletin, are holding a Studio Tour Event. Guests can visit artists in their working studios. As many of you know, I no longer have a private studios since moving last year, but I continue to keep my little studio nook inside the Wade Street Marketplace. You can find me at

Bainbridge, Georgia

The reception this week for our 3 person show was wonderful. If you aren’t from the South, it is hard to explain pure and honest Southern hospitality with words alone. The members of the Bainbridge-Decatur County Council for the Arts went out of their way to provide a warm reception for us.

Painter Janice Rentz, born and raised in Bainbridge but living in Albany, Ga, is a painter and a close friend of mine. Her work is bright and carries a lot of symbolism. Her recent Southwest Georgia landscapes turn traditional landscapes on their head but still carry the SWGA flavor.
Bainbridge native Kim Jetter is a woodcarver. Over the years she has painted and sculpted as well but says she always comes back to her true passion – woodcarving. Her work is fabulously detailed with local animals and hunting scenes. She makes mostly commission pieces, but also has duck calls and rifle handles. It was wonderful getting to know her a bit and learn about her work.

It’s not too late to visit the show, the firehouse Gallery is open THIS weekend and next weekend as well.

The exhibit remains open for the next two weekends, April 9-11 and April 16-18. Hours are Friday and Sundays from 1-4pm. Saturdays from 10am -2pm. Stop by if you can.

Southern Do – Over: Southern Paintings with an Abstract Twist by Cindy Davis

Just a reminder that I also have a solo exhibit approaching later this month in Fitzgerald, Georgia. This one person show will be a tad bit larger, filling the Carnegie Center.

Reception: May 6th, from 6pm-8pm. (The musical performance will start at 7pm, refreshments will be served)

Opening Date: April 23rd
Closing Date: May 27th
Hours: Monday through Thursday 12:00pm-4:00pm, Fridays 12:00pm-7:00pm

Summer Show in Atlanta, Georgia

I also wanted to mention that I have a large solo exhibit will open with my work in June at the Defoor Centre in Atlanta. It is my largest show so far and I am continuing to paint for it now. I have several new pieces to take with me for this one. The exhibit will hang until November 2010.

It has been a busy Spring and will be a busy Summer but I wouldn’t want it any other way! Many thanks for the continued support of my friends and family. Your encouragement has enabled me to keep painting during times when I felt like giving it up. It means a lot to me!

I was tickled to receive an invitation to participate as an exhibiting artist for the Camilla Show again this year. They throw a great party. I wasn’t able to go last year, but have had a lot of fun in years past. This annual invitational art show draws regional artists from North Florida and South Georgia. Hope to see you there!

Just wanted to say thank you for the nice write up on the Twestival SFabout my painting donation, Marblefall. I am so happy to be able to participate in this event for Charity : Water.Wish I could attend in person. I am headed to San Fransisco in April, but event takes place Feb. 12th.

On Thursday, February 12th, San Francisco is joining forces with over 105 cities around the world, harnessing the power of twitter, social media and technology for an evening of fun and networking to raise money and awareness for Charity: W ater.

Just wanted to post a picture of my vendor booth at Holly Berry Market at St. Teresa’s Church. I had a great time, meeting lots of people and talking up a storm. I was so tired after the big day. I slept like a log.

2006 Word Art — Valdosta, Georgia

I finally have some new pictures to post onto my blog. I did a quick series for a Word Art Exhibit in Valdosta, Georgia. I don’t know if they accepted my work yet, I just dropped it off a couple of nights ago.

4 paintings, all of which incorporate words into the design.

The first is Savannah Nights, loosly inspired by a weekend trip with my husband, David.

The second painting is called Fountain of Lions, once again inspired by travel. While in Spain, a few years ago we visited the Allhambra and the famous courtyard The Fountain of Lions. Here is a picture of this painting. It is my favorite of the four paintings, perhaps simple because I like the composition best of all.

The third painting is called Queensland. It is more complicated and emotional for me. Queensland is a port in Ireland which thousands emigrated from to come the USA. I have a family tree at the bottom to add a geneology element to the piece.

The fourth painting is simple. It is called FLY. I love the colors. This is my first side-trip into collage. I cut up an old painting that I did not like. I used the strips to weave a small pattern and then used gel medium to attach it to the canvas. I like the result. I may cut up all my paintings and do this. maybe not… how could I destroy such masterpieces !! ha-ha
