Natural : Artist Statement

I like to exaggerate the natural world. I discover tiny objects, textures, stones, leave in the woods and in my our subdivision which lead to blown-up, bigger than life paintings about natural objects.

Often these types of paintings start with no plan whatsoever. I let them take me where they like. The finished piece rarely resembles the initial inspiration. I find the process of creating art in the way fresh and fun.

Returning to natural themes time and time again over the years, each time the I try to simply and build on ideas and concepts that I have painted before.

I find comfort in this type of painting. For me, the stability of the natural world brings provides continual inspiration.
